Airbus A380

The Airbus A380 is the largest double-deck, wide-body commercial aircraft flying today, with more seats than any other aircraft.  It has a maximum capacity of 853 passengers, established on its two floors, and has a length of almost 73 meters and 24 meters in height.

The A380 was designed as a long-range aircraft for intercontinental flights, and it stands out for its structure in composite (40%) and other modern metallic materials, as well as its interior design, efficiency and technological features to provide the greatest possible comfort to its passengers and customers.

Airbus is presented a development study for an enhanced A380, the “A380plus”, an aircraft with greater autonomy, more passenger capacity and lower fuel consumption, as well as improvements in aerodynamics, among other issues The A380-plus will feature an increased maximum take-off weight of 578 tons, compared to 575 tons for the current version. That will allow airlines to carry the up to 80 more passengers over the same range (8,200 nm) as the existing aircraft or increase the range by 300 nm for ultra-long-haul missions.

Different aerospace companies from the Andalusian sector and from our Association, mainly from Seville and Cadiz, are involved in this program. As of July 2018, Airbus had received 331 firm orders and delivered 229 aircraft; Emirates is the biggest A380 customer with 162 ordered of which 104 have been delivered.
