Last October a Spanish delegation was present in Dubai to defend the candidacy of Seville in the IAC 2024, the largest International Aeronautics Congress that brings together entrepreneurs, professionals and scientists from around the world related to the space industry.
Andalucía Aerospace supported this candidacy with the presence of our cluster president, Antonio Gómez-Guillamón, who attended this mission as part of the Spanish delegation.
Seville City Council, through the municipal company Congresos y Turismo de Sevilla (Contursa), has announced that it will resubmit the city’s candidacy to host the International Astronautical Congress, which for 2024 has finally been awarded to Milan (Italy) after a disputed process in which both cities competed with Sao Paulo (Brazil), Adelaide (Australia) and Budapest (Hungary).
“We are very satisfied with the defence of our bid. In fact, it was the first time that Seville had presented itself in competition with other major capitals with a long tradition of organising international events. And we will try again because Dubai’s experience positions us, just as it has done with Milan, which had been bidding to host the event for several years”, according to the delegate for Urban Habitat, Culture and Tourism, Antonio Muñoz.
