Andalucía Aerospace has attended one of the most important events in the aerospace sector, Farnborough International Airshow, which is held from 22nd to 26th July. Our cluster is one of the entities that are part of the Andalucía TRADE stand, from where we arranged some meetings and showcased the capabilities of our member companies.
Also from this stand was held the presentation of the Andalusian aerospace sector report for 2023, which was attended by the president of Andalucía Aerospace, Antonio Gómez-Guillamón, and the Regional Minister of Industry, Energy and Mines, Jorge Paradela. This event has served to announce, on the part of the Regional Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines of the Andalusian Regional Government, a call for aid with a budget of 16 million euros, which aims to support the development of a 100% Andalusian satellite system, from the design and manufacturing phase to the launch and putting into orbit. The new incentive order, as the minister explained, will cover all phases of the value chain. ‘We want Andalusian industry to develop full technological and operational capabilities in all the work packages that make up a satellite space mission’; hence the objective of the new incentives order is to “develop the industrial capabilities demanded by the market from Andalusia”.
Jorge Paradela, together with Antonio Gómez-Guillamón and the managing director of Andalucía Aerospace, Juan Román, also explained the capabilities and potential of the Andalusian aerospace sector. Thus, they have detailed the performance of this industry in the 2023 financial year, which has closed with a 16.4% increase in turnover, reaching 2,743 million euros, and with a 10% improvement in employment, with 14,440 direct jobs.
Andalusia is the only Spanish region with its own presence at FIA 2024, which has more than 1,200 exhibitors from 44 countries and 75,000 visitors from over a hundred countries.
